This is a lens you will never miss out on focus with! Stopped at 22 its almost full focus from infinity to very very close. The focus-ring is from 0.25m (less than one feet) and the short lens makes the depth very wide and deep even at moderate apperatures. Hence it's often refered to as a semi-fish-eye. The wide angle is a full 180 degree on the diagonal. This isnt a regular fisheye but it fills out the whole frame, giving a rectangular field of view. The oposite effect may be used in creative ways like curving the horizon (thus proving the earth is rounded). One funny thing is that you could use this semi-fish-eye-lens and still get straight lines to remain straight, just make sure the lines go from center and then perpendicular to the edge. Poster-works, postcards, interior photography! Dramatic skiing and sport-pictures! All this in one lens and no extra ad-ons needed! Closeups feasible due to the short closeup-distance, flower or miniature-photography. Lens has many more uses that you first may think nature, spectacular scenery when you want to catch small stuff near yet bring the whole landscape into the picture. I think its light-weight too, specially compared to my normal 55mm/1.2 asymetrical. It also includes a built in filter in 4 colours, sky (clear), red, yellow and orange. Both in its small size, clarity and speed. To sum, the photographer looking to work with a lens meant for wide angels and special effects will find this Canon Lens to be a fully equipped fisheye lens. The 15 mm f/2.8 lens construction is that of eight elements in seven groups, and the focus adjustment allows for an overall linear extension system with AFD. Included with the Canon Lens are also internal focusing, five diaphragm blades, and the capability to work with 35 mm film or digital cameras. ![]() This Canon Lens has up to three gel filters that can be inserted into its built-in rear filter hood, with a fixed petal-type hood. ![]() When working with the ultra-wide 180-degree angle of view, photographers can capture scenes well beyond their natural field of vision. Working with a 15 mm f/2.8 lens provides many unique and interesting effects however, the Canon EF Fisheye Lens stays sharp and clear throughout the entire focus range. This Canon Lens has a 180-degree angle of view using a short minimum focusing distance of eight inches for close-up shots with special effects. Photographers can create intriguing effects with a wide depth of field using the Canon EF Fisheye Lens.It can turn a sometimes mundane scene into something a little more lively. So if you’re looking for something new to inspire your photography, I highly recommend taking a look at this awesome little lens. However I still consider the older 15mm to be a real gem and probably wouldn’t upgrade unless mine bites the dust. It also has been updated to Canon’s “L” status for superior optics. One thing for sure, the results are always stellar when I use it.Ĭanon has also released an update this year to this lens with their new 8mm-15mm Fisheye which gives you the choice of having a unique circular image or one that fills the whole frame. However, it’s one of those lenses that only comes out for those right moments which seem far and few between and that’s why it may be one of my least used lenses, but absolutely one I would never part with. I tend to use this lens for almost all types of photography I do from not only landscapes, but to commercial work, and even some unique portraiture. This particular Fisheye lens fills the whole image with a 180 degree angle of view, so in tight quarters you can fit an awful lot into the scene. Aside from the autofocus, this lens is very sharp and has excellent contrast. Canon’s 15mm Fisheye is an older lens with excellent image quality, but a somewhat dated autofocus motor. If you’re not familiar with Fisheye lenses, they have been around forever and are more of what’s considered a specialty lens due to the extreme distortion and wide angle they give you. This shot reminded me of how cool a perspective Canon’s 15mm 2.8 Fisheye Lens gives you and how it can make a somewhat ordinary scene take on a whole new look. This month’s cover of Montana Magazine features a fall image of mine created with one of my favorite and least used lenses that I own.
